Évolution de la formation initiale des sages-femmes en France Métropolitaine, durant la seconde partie du XXe siècle. Approche historique d'après le témoignage de 18 sages-femmes

In order to understand fully the status of midwives students, the historical background of the midwifery training should be addressed.The aim of this historically oriented study is to describe and analyze the development of the initial training in Mainland France, during thesecond half of the 20th century. Such a concept needs to be underpinned by the following assumption: “the training of midwives between 1950 and 2000, modulated by the increase in the proportion of theoretical learning and the withdrawal of the compulsory residency, facilitated the switch from the status of apprentice to midwife student”.Assessed in the light of the legislation governing the midwifery training, the statements from midwives students will allow to reconstruct past events and to understand this piece of history.Pour mieux percevoir notre actuel statut d’étudiant sage-femme, il est nécessaire de s’intéresser à l’histoire de notre formation.Ce mémoire a pour objectif de décrire et d’analyser l’évolution de la formation initiale des sages-femmes en France métropolitaine, durant la deuxième partie du 20ème siècle, selon une approche historique.Cet objectif est sous-tendu par l’hypothèse suivante : « La formation des sages-femmes entre 1950 et 2000, par l’augmentation de la proportion des apprentissages théoriques et la suppression de l’internat obligatoire, a favorisé le passage d’une posture d’apprentie sage-femme à une posture d’élève sage-femme ».Les témoignages d’élèves sages-femmes, analysés à la lumière des sources législatives régissant la formation permettront de reconstruire le passé et de comprendre ce fragment d’histoire
