International audienceWhat are the conservative arguments stating that the American Constitution has a Christian background? In this article, I explain the recent history of this ideological debate, lasting for 40 years, on the true intents of the Founding Fathers, and how the conservative interpretation of it was rebuilt by some eminents scholars, often from Catholic background.
