International audienceWith the "peace of Religion" initiated by the edicts of pacification (1562-1598), in each bailliage, Protestants were granted temples and cemeteries - often far from city centers. If they want to survive as a group and sometimes as people, then the Huguenots have no choice but to try to play with the rules, their interpretation and their applicability. On the other hand, if they wanted to save their souls and ward off "heretical" pollution, Catholics had also to try to circumvent the law by keeping as far as possible the Protestant temple.
