Evaluation de la qualité de vie des patients irradiés avant et après appareillage par prothèse adjointe amovible

Every year several thousand people in France are afflicted by cancers of the oral cavity. Related treatments lead to heavy side-effects and have a considerable effect on the quality of the oral and therefore overall life of patients. Through a study, this thesis seeks to determine the extent of the impact on a patient’s physical functions (mastication, swallowing, phonation and salivation) as well as on their psychology, following radiotherapy treatment, prior to and following the insertion of a removable prosthesis. At this stage of the study, 19 patients have responded to the GOHAI questionnaire, prior to insertion of the removable prosthesis revealing significant impairment to the physical and psychological state of the subjects. Only a limited number of results were obtained in the week after provision of the prosthesis and they seem to reveal a marginal improvement on the psychological level. The study will need to be continued in order to allow for real conclusions to be drawn.Les cancers de la sphère orale frappent chaque année plusieurs milliers de personnes en France. Leurs traitements sont lourds de conséquences et modifient considérablement la qualité de vie orale et par conséquent générale des patients. À travers une étude, cette thèse cherche à évaluer dans quelles mesures sont altérées les fonctions physiques (mastication, déglutition, phonation et salivation) et psychologiques d’un patient traité par radiothérapie, avant et après l’insertion d’une prothèse amovible adjointe. A ce stade de l’étude, 19 patients ont répondu au questionnaire GOHAI, avant l’insertion de la prothèse amovible révélant une atteinte importante de l’état physique et psychologique des sujets. Seulement quelques résultats sont obtenus une semaine après la réalisation de la prothèse et semblent montrer une légère amélioration sur le plan psychologique. La poursuite de l’étude est nécessaire pour apporter de réelles conclusions
