International audienceBeyond the official discourse and above the heated debate that has often dominated the historiography of politico-religious relations, we find a Catholic mission that is heavily involved in public life in Upper Volta 1940-1950. Even if they sometimes seem to have a more visible influence, it was rather on the back-stage of colonial drama that the White Fathers emerged as political actors.
