International audienceThis paper attempts to give a first overview of coin circulation during late La Tène, using data recorded for the northern half of France in the database of the rural settlements of the Mid and Late Iron Age (coord. G. Blancquaert, F. Malrain, T. Lorho), supplemented by new data (all data are presented at the end of the article). The paper first presents the database and discusses possible biases in the data. It then goes on examining the distribution of coins in space and time between the various French administrative regions. Subsequently, it examines the archaeological find contexts on various sites, in order to better understand how coins were used in the countryside. One of the results of this enquiry is that coin...
