Les nouveaux sens du sacrifice musulman. Une ethnographie du changement rituel à Istanbul (Turquie)

An ethnography of ritual change in Istanbul (Turquie)Exploring some of the contemporary shapes of the muslim sacrifice, drawing from ethnographic fieldworks conducted in Istanbul (Turkey), this paper questions the relationship between ritual and change by confronting a ritual pattern to its adaptations and transformations. The selected examples illustrate the tension between a sacrificial imagination marked by the repetition and enacting of a foundational and examplar gesture (the ibrahimian sacrifice), and a set of concrete conditions and external constraints which at once redefine deeply, and reactivate under new forms the sacrificial rituality. After focusing on the main characteristics of the muslim sacrifice, the accent is put on two modes : the commercialisation and merchandizing of the ritual ; the humanitarian practice of sacrifice. These growing trends to the delegation of sacrifice through specialized organizations (commercial or humanitarian) reveal the shapes and stakes of ritual innovations which, while trying to conciliate tradition and modernity, questions the representations and meanings (intimate as well as collective) of the ritual, its symbolics and pragmatics.Explorant certaines des modalités contemporaines du sacrifice musulman, à partir d’enquêtes ethnographiques conduites à Istanbul (Turquie), cet article interroge le rapport entre rituel et changement en confrontant un modèle rituel à ses adaptations et transformations. Les exemples choisis illustrent la tension entre un imaginaire sacrificiel marqué par la répétition et la réactualisation d’un acte fondateur exemplaire (le sacrifice ibrahimien), et un ensemble de conditions concrètes et de contraintes externes qui redéfinissent profondément, tout en la réactivant sous de nouvelles formes, la ritualité sacrificielle. Après une mise au point sur les principales caractéristiques du sacrifice musulman, l’accent est mis sur deux modalités : la commercialisation et la marchandisation du rituel ; la pratique humanitaire du sacrifice. Ces tendances croissantes à la délégation du sacrifice auprès d’officines spécialisées (commerciales ou humanitaires) révèlent les formes et les enjeux d’innovations rituelles qui, tout en tentant de concilier tradition et modernité, interrogent les représentations et les significations intimes comme collectives du rituel, ses symboliques et ses pragmatiques
