This paper uses a light-matching trucking stirdy to determine the huniun frequency batid priss cliuruc-teristics in the presence of sign8cuntIy large external transmission delays which are introcilrced into the stimulus-response information loop. Such delays occur in real time operution of vehicles and Other equipment wliich is at some distance from the operator (near earth or deep orbit, sitr/irce?f the nzoo/r, etc.). When iiformation in the visual sensory channel is delayed because of trunsniissioti times betnwi man’s controliitig action and the displuyed results, this interacts with the relatively short iiorniul dc1lUY of the other sensory feedback loops such as tactual and kinesthetic information loops, cuiising srihstantiul phase interference problems bet ween otlierwise in-phase parrtllel sensory information cliunnds. A repre-sentative model was used for the human trarrder function for llie system studied, which iriutclied the ex-perimental data reasonably well.
