Studies dealing with the well-known olfactory powers of insects have been undertaken for a num-ber of purposes, using different methods. Many investigators have observed the behavioral response elicited by odor stimuli n order to localize olfactory reception on the antenna, as was first done con-clusively by Von Frisch (1921), or to study the whole animal's odor threshold and odor discrimina-tion (Von Friseh, 1919, Dethier, 1954, and many others) or, finally, to study the animal's orientation toward the odor source (Fabre, 1879; Schwinck
