Results are provided from a formative evaluation of computer-assisIed instruction (CAI) designed for training of foster home certification and licensing staff. The evaluation was un4ertaken to provide information on issues of feasibility, installg,tion, and implementation of CAI. Project data were obtained from two sources: the first was a review and analysis of CAI literature, the second was a,field administration of CAI lessons, folkowed by an evaluative questionnaire given to 29 workers fromtpreselected child placement agencies in southwest and southcentral Michigan. The literature and field findings support the proposition that CAI is effective in teaching about licensing and regulation.
