The recent clinical studies describing the treatment of some neurological disorders with an externally applied picoTesla (10-2 Tesla, or 10-8 gauss) magnetic field are considered from a physical view point. An equation relating the intrinsic (or "rest") energy of a charged particle of mass m with its energy of interaction in an externally applied magnetic field B is presented. The equation represents an initial basic physical interaction as a part of a more complex biolog ical mechanism to explain the therapeutic effects of externally applied magnetic fields in these and other neurologic disorders
