An ureterocele is a congenital saccular dilatation of the terminal aspect of the ureter, arising from abnormal embryogenesis and affecting the early development of the intravesicular ureter, the ipsilateral kidney, and its collecting system. This is one of the more challenging urologic abnor-malities facing pediatric and adult urologists, posing a diagnostic and therapeutic dilemma be-cause of the many variations of anatomic abnor-malities and nonspecific clinical symptoms.
