Electron Microscope Studies on Ciliary Apparatus of

The purpose of this present study is to make clear ths fine structure of ciliary apparatus by observing ultra-thin sections of adult female mice oviducts under the electron microscope. I have observed the relation between cilia and ci'.iary epithelial cell, especially fine structures of its basal part—basal ring, basal corpuscle and fine rootlets. Material and Methods As the experimental materials I used the fresh oviducts of adult female mice about 25 g in weight individually. I killed them by cutting the necks off, extracted the both oviducts within about 30 seconds, and fixed them in 1 % OsQi phosphate buffer solutions for 30 minutes. After fixation I washed them in distilled water, dehyd-rated by ethyl alcohol, and then embedded them in mixture of n-buthyl and methyl methacrylate (8:2). The samples for embedding them were cut by J. U. M. 3-type ultra microtome. I obtained ultra-thin section of about 0.03/i in thickness and examined them under J.E.M. 3-type electron microscope.
