No bird mortality or immediate or short-tern reductions in popu lations or activity of forest avifauna were recorded following experi mental or semi-operational applications of fenitrothion applied twice within a five day interval at 0.280 kg Al/ha. Fenitrothion at this dosage rate was applied to a 930 ha block in Ontario by small fixed wing aircraft in 1976, and to a 120,960 ha block in Quebec by multi-engine aircraft in 1977. Forest bird populations inhabiting various forest sites were monitored in each year to evaluate spray impact. RESUME Aucune mortalice ni reduction immediate ou a court terme des populations ou de 1'activite n'a ete observee chez 1'avifaune forestiere, apres des epandages experimentaux ou semi-operationnels de fenitrothion applique deux fois en cinq jours a la dose de 0,280 kg d'l.A./ha. En 1976, les pulverisations ont ete realisees en Ontario, sur un bloc de 930 ha, au moyen d'un petit aeronef a voilure fixe, et en 1977, au Quebec, sur un bloc de 120 960 ha, au moyen d'un multimoteur. Les controles des oiseaux forestiers ont ete quotidiens et ont portes sur plusieurs stations- forestieres. Cii
