No bird mortality or immediate or short-tern reductions in popu lations or activity of forest avifauna were recorded following experi mental or semi-operational applications of fenitrothion applied twice within a five day interval at 0.280 kg Al/ha. Fenitrothion at this dosage rate was applied to a 930 ha block in Ontario by small fixed wing aircraft in 1976, and to a 120,960 ha block in Quebec by multi-engine aircraft in 1977. Forest bird populations inhabiting various forest sites were monitored in each year to evaluate spray impact.
