Despite well-established evidence-based medication and behavioral therapies to treat hypertension, major gaps in blood pressure (BP) control remain.1–3 Of the 76 million US adults with hypertension, more than half have uncon-trolled BP.1 Uncontrolled hypertension is associated with an increased risk of acute myocardial infarction, stroke, kidney failure, and congestive heart failure.1 Lowering BP to recom-mended levels has been shown to reduce the occurrence of these events.4 To improve BP treatment and control rates, home BP moni-toring (HBPM) has been suggested as an adjunct to traditional outpatient hypertension care.5–12 Previous studies involving pharmacist- or nurse-led HBPM programs have demonstrated improvements in BP control.6,8,13...
