This paper, in celebration of the Australian and New Zealand Journal'sthirty years of existence provides a reflective, self-critical analysis of its contents over this period and, for comparative purposes, the content of the British Journal of Criminology. While the findings of such an exercise must be treated with caution, they provide interesting glimpses of the way in which the discipline of criminology has been shaped and developed in the journal. During 1997 the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Criminology (ANZJC) entered its thirtieth year.
