Supporting a family through the impending death of their infant challenges the health care team to create opportunities for the parents to complete the attachment process and begin to grieve. Even in the neonatal intensive-care unit, the family can be brought together with their child in activities that comfort and console, lay the foundation for positive memories, and initiate healing and closure after the death of the infant.
