THE occurrence of myoglobin in the urine has been well-established in various con-ditions. These include severe exercise (1), crush syndrome (2), electric shock (3), arterial occlu-sion (4), barbiturate intoxication (5), poly-myositis (6), Haff's disease (7), McArdle's syn-drome (8), regional enteritis (9), infections (10), in the postictal state (11), in muscular dys-trophy (12), and with acute alcoholic intoxi-cation (5). In a certain number of cases no cause can be found, and these necessarily have been classified as "idiopathic.
