Managing Children with Learning Disabilities in Inclusive Classroom: Roles of Guidance/Counsellors

This study was designed to determine the roles of guidance counsellors in assisting the teachers manage and handle learning disable children in an inclusive classroom. The study was a descriptive research design guided by two research questions. The design adopted for this study was an evaluation design. The area of study is Enugu State of Nigeria. A total population of 300 secondary school teachers was used and these were Senior Secondary I-III teachers drawn from in the educational zones of the State. A purposive sampling technique was used in each zone to select the schools and a simple random sampling technique was used to draw 274 respondents. The instrument used for data collection was a multiple choice test questions designed by the researcher. This was validated by three experts in measurements and evaluation i. After the item analysis the instrument was subjected to test for internal consistency using the K-R 20 approach and a reliability coefficient of 0.96 was obtained. The instrument was administered by hand with the help of four research assistants. Data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation for each research question.
