Nursing research: evolving reality or neglected entity A review of articles published in Palliative Medicine reveals an unsurprising imbalance of contributions from medical research compared to nursing. At first sight, the reasons for this appear obvious: the journal, although professing to be multiprofessional, has an offputting medical title, and as a result nurses may be discouraged from submitting research papers. It may also be that, because nurses are new to research and have not received the research training from which doctors benefit, they are at a disadvantage in knowing where to begin, particularly when it comes to publishing the results of their labours.
