Abstract — Metadiscourse can be used to organize discourse, express writers/speakers ’ viewpoints towards discourse and attitudes towards readers/listeners, communicate and negotiate with readers/listeners. This study applied the metadiscourse theories into college English interpretation teaching. Through the statistic analysis of teaching experiment among 56 English majors and the interview conducted later, the study shows that metadiscourse training helps with the improvement of students’ interpretation achievement.
