This study aims to investigate the feasibility of a translated Cantonese version of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association Functional Assessment of Communication Skills for Adults (ASHA FACS) with 29 aphasic patients of three different severity levels (i.e., mild, moderate, severe) in Hong Kong. Each participant was rated on 43 functional communication skills in the Cantonese FACS using an observation rating scale format. Comparable results to the ASHA FACS were obtained. The Cantonese FACS was sensitive to the severity, education, and gender of the aphasic patients and high inter- and intrarater reliability were obtained.
