Title: Interactions between cells or proteins and surfaces exhibiting extreme wettabilities This review gives an overview of recent studies on proteins or cells action on the superhydrophilic and superhydrophobic surfaces. The potential biomedical applications of such information will also be explored, aiming to give inspiration on the development of new diagnostic systems, implants, cell-based biosensors and devices for tissue engineering.
