The design of a high sensitivity infrared spectrometric sys-tem for the on-line analysis of gas chromatographic peaks is described. The system is controlled by a general purpose minicomputer which allows the possibility of interactive data processing. The system is capable of detecting nanogram quantities and can be used to effectively enhance the resolu-tion of the gas chromatograph. Some applications of the sys-tem to a few typical chemical systems are discussed
