Michigan 48109 This document reports an assessment of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) dissemination of technical information for the research, development, and demonstration projects i t sponsors in the field of human-oriented highway safety. A representative group of 181 projects is examined and data are presented on the availabili ty and accessibi l i ty of technical reports of study results produced by the performing contractors. Findings indicate gaps in NHTSA1s dissemination practices as of the time the study data were assembled (March 1979). Conclusions concerning the need to improve dissemination of research, development, and demonstration project results to practitioners and researchers in the highwav safety field are presented.
