The Independent Living Rehabilitation Program provided non-residential community rehabilitation to meet the personal, vocational, and social needs of seriously mentally handicapped. young adults. After both an initial and an 8:-week evaluation period, 75 enrolees were admitted for up to 2 years of training. Of the 75, 577 were classified as educable, 407 as trainable, and the remainder as mild (IO over 75). Half were under 20 years of age.
