Witnessing community violence and experiencing abuse in the home are two examples of interpersonal trauma that can have a devastating impact on children and adolescents. Recent research on the treatment of children exposed to interpersonal violence has focused on cognitive-behavioral interventions, often delivered in school settings. We describe the application of a new manual-based psychotherapy protocol for treating pediatric trauma in a middle school. Two case studies illustrate the protocol application to children from an inner-city neighborhood.
