Complete construction: The total synthesis of IKD-8344, a novel 28-membered ring macrodiolide antibiotic (see structure), was accomplished by employing Williamson ether synthesis, ??-alkoxymethacrylate radical cyclization, and Yamaguchi lactonization reactions.
