A case of osteosarcoma of the carpus is reported and the relevant literature reviewed-Osteosarcoma of the hand is a rare occurrence and osteosarcoma of the carpus has not previously been reported in the English literature. The World Health Organisation defines osteosarcoma as “a malignant tumour characterised by the direct formation of bone or osteoid by the tumour cells”. Carroll (1957) reviewed the literature and showed ten cases of osteosarcoma of the hand, four affecting the phalanges and five the metacarpals, the location of the remaining case not being stated.
