One of the most productive means of obtaining conservation of energy lies in the improvement of the fuel-to-steam efficiency of high pressure steam generating boilers. Boilers operating at steam pressures of 100 psig and above are viable prospects. A properly designed and installed economizer can increase overall boiler efficiency to 85 to 90 percent. The maximum gain that can be safely achieved is largely governed by corrosion considerations.
