The present experimental thesis has been focused on two aspects of the chemistry of glycal-derived vinyl epoxides and N-activated aziridines (isomerization of glycal-derived vinyl epoxides into 2,5-dihydrofurans and a new synthesis of D-galacatal-derived vinyl N-activated aziridine) and on an extended examination of synthetic value of methoxycarbonyl anion we have recently found to be generated by dimethyl malonate/LHMDS protocol
