This thesis deals with the numerical simulation of the international benchmark on the aerodynamics of a sharp-edged rectangular cylinder with a chord-to-depth ratio equal to 5. In spite of its simple geometry, this benchmark can shed new light in the fundamentals of the aerodynamic behavior of a wide range of actual bluff bodies, such as bridges or high-rise buildings. The aim of this thesis is, in particular, to investigate the sensitivity of the numerical results to the inlet conditions, namely to the free-stream incidence, the inlet turbulence length and intensity.
