Goblin Market: Irish New Contemporary Art is the first book of its kind to be printed to date. Driven and influenced by the Lowbrow art movement that emerged in America in the 1970's, the various stylistic offshoots have gradually made their way to Europe and the U.K. Each country, and in some cases each city, has its own artistic language and interpretation of the style, and Ireland is no exception. This art movement is not embraced by the overwhelming majority of art institutions and galleries in Ireland.
