The first Australian policy to promote collective responsibility for children’s wellbeing, the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2009–2020: Protecting Children is Everyone’s Business, endorses the need for local, state and national agencies, the community service sector and citizens to think and act differently. It calls for a shared understanding that the protection of children means more than ‘mandatory reporting’. Protecting children from abuse and neglect is a responsibility of all sectors and community members.
