Joint German-Indonesian seminar on R and D activities using the MPR-30

Within the Governmental Agreement on Cooperation in Scientific Research and Technological Development signed between the Republic of Indonesia and the Federal Republic of Germany on March 20th, 1979, a Special Agreement on Cooperation in the field of Nuclear Energy was concluded on October 29th, 1982, between the National Atomic Energy Agency (BATAN) and the Kernforschungsanlage Jülich GmbH (KFA Jülich). During the first German-Indonesian Workshop on Nuclear Power Technology and in subsequent discussions between the Research Ministries of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Indonesia it was agreed to hold a second Seminar on"R & D Activities Using the MPR-30." The aim of the Seminar was to disseminate knowledge of ongoing research programmes to a broad audience of BATANs scientists. At the same time BATAN undertook to inform the German participants on its own ongoing research activities and future plans. With the help of this exchange both parties were able to discuss mutual areas of interest for a future joint utilization of the MPR-3o. The Seminar took place from August 19 to 21, 1985, in BATANs Headquarters in Jakarta. In presentations from both sides an overview was given in the areas of Materials and Fuel Development, Radionuclide and Analytical Research, Neutron Scattering Research. The lectures presented by both sides are compiled in these Proceedings with the aim of further disseminating their contents thus helping BATAN to assess the possibility of introducing those R & D activities pertinent to the country's development. The present pUblication is edited by the International Bureau of KFA Jülich compiling the manuscripts submitted by the authors.
