Cloud computing in the sector of Small and Medium Enterprises

This bachelor thesis focuses on the ubiquitous trend of cloud computing and its application in the environment of small and medium-sized businesses. The purpose of this thesis is to characterize the basic properties of the cloud computing concept and to propose a specific feasible solution for a selected company from this sector. The thesis describes the general term of cloud computing, its architecture and division according to individual characteristics. In addition, the thesis defines the benefits and limitations related to application of the given technology. The practical part is dedicated to analysis of the existing state of IT infrastructure of companies and to proposed feasible solutions meeting company requirements. The TCO method, recognized for its high efficiency in assessments of IT projects, is used to calculate the costs of implementation of each of the possible solutions. The acquired data are used to compare these solutions, leading to a recommendation as to whether the cloud technology is an optimal solution or not.
