History, assess the current state and prospects of development of viticulture at the Benedictine Order

The subject of this thesis is based on an analysis of documents assessing the evolution, current state and prospects of development of vine growing in the Benedictine order. The first part is devoted to the history and principles of the Rule of St. Benedict, according to the motto "Ora et labora" - Czech "pray and work" together with the basic division of the community with the spiritual order. The following chapter focuses on the development of the monastic winemaking at home and abroad that the problem also affects the Cistercians and their winery in Žernoseky. Part of the topic are also circumstances of expansion vines on the territory of Bohemia and Moravia and the related adaptation varietal charge on domestic vineyards. The last part deals with the origins and history of selected Benedictine monasteries with emphasis on their vineyard management, while also focuses on the past and current situation wineries of Benedictine order at us
