Bob Genthner received a PhD in clinical psychology from Kent State University in 1972 and was director of graduate training at Eastern Kentucky University from 1973 to 1979. He has been in private psychotherapy practice in Lexington, KY, since 1979. He started sitting in 1971 and formed a meditation group in Lexington in 1980, He met Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1982, took Dharma Teacher Precepts, in 1983 and the sitting group in his home became the Lexington Zen Center. He is currently Abbot. Since 1972, he has been sitting retreats at Gethsemene Trappist Monastery. Bob is married to a psychologist. They have three children, including a new-born so
