Human health damages due to exposure to substances emitted to indoor air are not included in life cycle assessment methodologies for dwellings. Intake fractions have been calculated for organic compounds emitted to the indoor air of four dwelling types based on Dutch reference dwellings. Intake fractions of emissions to the crawl space are a factor of 25 to 150 lower than intake fractions of emissions to the other compartments, which have the same order of magnitude. With the intake fractions calculated here, it is possible to calculate characterisation factors for emissions of organic substances to the indoor air of dwellings
