The Environment Explorer and the Land Use Scanner are both integrated land use models, used by the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Considering efficiency, the RIVM is trying to integrate both systems while their specific qualities should remain. This integration will lead to a toolbox, called LUMOS (Land Use Modelling System). Under the authority of the RIVM, a definition study was conducted by Nexpri / Utrecht University, resulting in a global functional model for LUMOS.
