The main objective of the analysis work performed in the framework of the Work Package 4 of the DaCoTA project is to analyse the past evolution of the annual number of fatalities in the various member states, and to forecast this evolution up to 2020. The model applied for many countries was the Latent Risk Model, which defines the development of the annual numbers of fatalities as the result of the joint development of exposure and risk (see Bijleveld et al., 2008; Martensen & Dupont, 2010).
