Breath analysis and blood alcohol concentration.

Devices for breath analysis are intended to meet the need for a simple method for determining the blood alcohol concentration. Devices have already been developed for several purposes. For applying breath analyses a compromise has to be found between users' requirements and technical possibilities. From SWOV laboratory research and roadside surveys it appeared that there are devices that can be used for scientific purposes. Further improvement of devices for breath analysis is possible and can be expected shortly. Whether devices for breath analysis can be used for enforcement purposes needs to be determined by further research on this subject. This publication is the English version of B 13377 (IRRD 233457)
