The control of phloem feeding insects such as aphids, whiteflies, cicadas, mealybugs, scales and plant feeding bugs in greenhouse crops still largely depends on the use of neonicotinoids. However, the increased found negative effects on the environment will soon results in a total ban on the use of these pesticides. In this project we summarized the possible alternative control measures with pesticides and biological control agents. Furthermore, a number of preventive and curative control measures was evaluated for the control of aphids in bedding plants and the tobacco whitefly in container plants, with Calibrachoa and Mandevilla as model plants. An endophytic application of an isolate of the entomopathogenic fungus Lecanicillium gave a cl...
