Military vehicle functions are becoming more dependent on electrical energy. As a result, the power system architectures of military vehicles are anticipated to increase in complexity. They may benefit from using a vehicle electrical power management system (VEPMS) to monitor and control the vehicle's electrical power. This paper discusses preliminary investigations into potential enhancements for VEPMS that may be introduced into military vehicles. The potential enhancements were identified through a literature review. The paper then describes a proposed VEPMS that could be implemented as a research test-bed with the aim of assessing the costs and benefits of introducing the identified potential enhancements into military vehicles.Manuel S...
