Senior seminar (D.V.M.) -- Cornell University, 2004. Includes bibliographical references (leaves 10-11).Kipper, a five-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi, presented to his referring veterinarian for an oral mass, which a biopsy identified to be squamous cell carcinoma. The dog was referred to Cornell for staging and treatment. Kipper was systemically healthy and had no evidence of metastatic disease. A partial rostral mandibulectomy was performed to remove the tumor with wide margins. This paper discusses the biologic behavior of oral squamous cell carcinoma and compares it to other oral neoplasms in the dog. Treatment options and prognostic factors for dogs with oral tumors are also presented.Dr. Dennis Baile
