Ritmo de crecimiento del ovino pelibuey de cuba hasta el destete

An experiment was conducted in order to study the growth curves of Cuban Pelibuey sheep during pre-weaning stage (from 0 to 90 days of age). Live weight evolution of 264 lambs coming from a genetic centre (130 males and 134 females, 69 singletons and 195 twins) was analyzed. Lambing, weaning and weekly weight was measured. Curves were made according to weight and daily mean gain in each age using Harvey minimal quadratic method (1987) and a lineal regression analysis. Variance analysis indicated signification (P<0,001) for the type of lambing and sex but it was not for the lambing month. The males and singletons lambs were born with higher weights and the values were adjusted to equations of y= 3,89 + 0,139 x and y = 4,02 + 0,164 x for the weight and age as well as y = 206.05 - 1,29 x and y = 197,04 - 1,24 x for the mean daily gain and age. Besides, it was observed that the higher relative growth occurred during the three first weeks with the maximum values for the twins.Con el objetivo de estudiar las curvas de crecimiento del ovino Pelibuey de Cuba en la etapa predestete (desde el nacimiento hasta los 90 días de edad) fue analizada la evolución del peso vivo en 264 corderos procedentes de un Centro Genético, de los cuales 130 eran machos y 134 hembras, 69 de parto simple y 195 de parto múltiple.
