Cancer incidence rates for all Alaska Natives (Eskimo, Indian, Aleut) were first reported in 1976. Since then numerous publications have documented the unusual cancer patterns in this population. The most recent report summarized data for twenty years, 1969-88. This report updates the previous report and adds information on patients diagnosed in the years 1989-93. These are the latest statistics for which there is complete data statewide, and provide the best estimates of cancer incidence in the Alaska Native population. Data for the entire 25-year period are presented as a composite for the years, 1969-1993, and for each of 5 five-year periods.
