Invited Seminar at the department of Optoelectronic Engineering, Jinan University, South China University of Technology, in Guangzhou, China.Optoelectronic oscillators based on intensity modulation and high quality factor disk resonators are experimentally discribed and discussed in this talk. These photonics systems are dedicated to the generation of ultrastable microwave signals with low phase noise performance. Crystalline whispering-gallery-mode resonators are both frequency filters for selecting microwave oscillating frequency and optical storage elements.
