The redeployment of tram networks in French cities, at the end of the eighties, is part of an overall objective of urban requalification that is clearly stated and planned by urban policies. However, these ambitions of urban policies tend to overshadow the consideration of uses, in public spaces laid out for trams, particularly in terms of road safety. According to the international scientific literature, and based on an exploratory study of accidents in these spaces in French cities, it appears that the layout of public spaces with tram systems generates specific road safety issues for users.
