Flipped classroom, as a new student-centred approach to teaching and learning, is gaining recognition and wider use in the education sector at home and abroad in recent years. This article introduces the flipped classroom model and summarizes the teaching and learning experiences of pharmacokinetics course in Pharmacy in the School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Furthermore, in order to promote the reform of teaching and learning methods, and improve teaching and learning quality in medical colleges, the challenges of implementing the flipped classroom in China have been analyzed and discussed
